Websites

These websites are local options for donating, trading, or selling items. You may also be able to find reusable items on some pages. RRRASOC is not responsible for any problems that you may encounter while visiting these sites...yada, yada, yada.

Craigslist is a centralized network of online urban communities, featuring free classified advertisements (with employment, housing, personals, for sale/wanted, services, community, events, gigs and resumes categories) and forums sorted by various topics.

Here's the lowdown: This site is not as local as some others, but is easy to use. No joining required and fewer rules.

When you want to find a new home for something -- whether it's a chair, a fax machine, piano, or an old door -- you simply send an e-mail offering it to members of the local Freecycle group. Or, maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself. Simply respond to a member's offer, and you just might get it. After that, it's up to the giver to decide who receives the gift and to set up a pickup time for passing on the treasure. Our main rule: Everything posted must be free, legal, and appropriate for all ages.

Here's the lowdown: You must join your local chapter of freecycle to check it out. Many chapters require a moderator's approval of your joining before you can actually dig in. Popular site - good way to get rid of stuff, if you can deal with jumping through the hoops.

Welcome to FreeSharing.org, the next generation of Free Recycling your unwanted items. The sites featured on FreeSharing.org are all locally owned, grassroots groups, working to help their neighbors and the environment by keeping usable items out of the landfill by passing them along to people who can use them.

Lowdown: Seems to be nearly identical to freecycle, but with fewer rules.
